At Accent Maid Service, we suggest the following tips to reduce your house cleaning concerns:
- Invest in Mats and Rugs – If your pets are going in and out during the day, mats and rugs by the doors and other entrances they frequent will assist in collecting the dirt they accumulate on their pads and paws. We also recommend an absorbent rug at those entrance points to siphon off any moisture they collect.
- Walk Smart – You can let your dog run free through the mud, but it’s going to collect a lot of dirt in the process. When taking your dog for a walk, guide it toward spots with grass or a hard surface to minimize the accumulation of grime.
- Wipe Feet – It may not be the most convenient step, but wiping your pet’s feet with a damp rag when they come in from outside is an easy way to maximize cleanliness. For dogs with hairy feet, you may choose to dip their paws in a warm container of water by the door, and then wipe their feet. Again, it may not be the simplest step, but it can make a difference when you’re focused on keeping your home clean.
- Trim Nails – Your dog’s nails, if not managed, can rapidly collect filth. When nails are long, they can dig into the dirt when outside, which can result in large chunks of mud making their way into your home. Most groomers will trim your pet’s nails, but we recommend staying on top of it between visits.
- Keep Cleaning Supplies Nearby – If you have a closet near your pet’s primary entry areas, store a microfiber mop inside. Running a damp mop over dirty foot prints before they dry will help to keep your floors clean.
